Overview
What is this project?
Designed and developed a full-stack e-commerce website for LUNA by Navneet & Navjot — a premium designer Punjabi suit boutique based in Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda, Punjab. My role was the full Next.js build: a modern boutique website that lets customers across Punjab, Canada, UK, and USA browse designer Punjabi suit collections, filter by fabric type (cotton, silk, velvet, pashmina, georgette, chikan, rayon), and directly book appointments or contact via WhatsApp — enabling the boutique to serve both local Bathinda shoppers and international NRI customers online. The site was built to feel like a premium fashion e-commerce experience rather than a basic brochure site, with a video showcase, curated collections, and a clean product browsing flow suited to how customers actually shop for designer suits.
Business Challenge
What problem needed solving?
The boutique had no online presence and was losing potential customers — especially NRI buyers from Canada, UK, and USA who wanted to browse and order designer Punjabi suits remotely without flying back to Punjab. Without a website, they relied entirely on walk-in traffic and word-of-mouth, missing high-intent searches for local boutique fashion keywords like "designer Punjabi suits Bathinda" and "Punjabi suit boutique online." Competing boutiques with even a basic e-commerce presence were capturing search traffic that LUNA had no way to compete for, and there was no way for a customer outside Punjab to see the current collection, check fabric options, or start a conversation about a purchase.
Solution
How was it built?
Built with Next.js (App Router) for performance and SEO, with server-side rendering and rich metadata optimisation targeting local boutique fashion searches across Bathinda, the Malwa region, and NRI markets in Canada, UK, and the USA. The site includes a video showcase section — since designer suit buying decisions are heavily visual — a product listing with fabric-type category filters, a customer testimonials carousel, and a structured FAQ section for organic search visibility. Every product and collection page was structured with clean, descriptive metadata and JSON-LD schema so Google could understand and surface the boutique's fabric categories and collections directly in search results. Delivered a production-ready, mobile-first website with fast load times, a clean modern UI, and a strong Google search presence for competitive local fashion keywords, giving the boutique an e-commerce presence that matches the premium quality of the product itself.
My Role & Responsibilities
What did I own on this project?
I worked directly with the boutique owners to translate an in-person, walk-in retail experience into an online catalog — deciding what to show first (the video showcase, since a lot of the buying decision for designer suits is visual and tactile), how to structure fabric-type filtering, and how international NRI customers should get in touch without an online checkout (WhatsApp, not a cart). I architected the site on Next.js App Router, built every page and component myself, wrote the SSR metadata strategy for local and NRI-market SEO, and handled the full deployment on Vercel.
Technical Challenges
What broke, and how was it fixed?
A boutique catalog lives or dies on image quality, but heavy, unoptimised product photography is exactly what kills mobile load times. I built the product and category pages around next/image with responsive sizes so each device pulls an appropriately sized asset instead of one oversized master image. The other real challenge was making category filters both fast and SEO-visible — a purely client-side filter UI is invisible to Google, so I drove filter state through the URL, which let filtered fabric-type views get indexed as their own pages while still feeling instant to the user. Combined with SSR and font optimisation, that got the site to a 98 Lighthouse SEO score and sub-1.5s LCP despite the heavy visual content. Getting local fashion keywords to actually rank also meant writing product and category metadata that matched how real customers search — phrases like "Punjabi suit boutique Bathinda" rather than generic fashion terms — instead of relying on site structure alone to carry the SEO.
Results & Impact
What changed after launch?
LUNA by Navneet went from zero online presence to a production e-commerce site reaching customers across Punjab, Canada, UK, and USA. The boutique can now direct NRI customers straight to a WhatsApp-integrated browsing experience instead of losing them to the lack of a way to shop remotely, and the site ranks competitively for local search terms across Bathinda and the Malwa region. Page load speed came in under 1.5 seconds for the largest content paint, and the site hit a 98 Lighthouse SEO score — both of which matter directly for how well a visually heavy fashion e-commerce site can rank and convert. The boutique now has a permanent, searchable online presence instead of relying entirely on walk-in traffic.
Key Learnings
For a visually-driven catalog, SEO and image performance aren't separate concerns — getting next/image sizing and URL-driven filter state right up front is what let the site be both fast and fully indexable. Fashion e-commerce sites that skip this groundwork usually end up choosing between a beautiful site and a fast, rankable one.
